Walking along the old stoned Bazaar, from the Ottoman Time we will reach the Castle of Gjirokastra. It is the biggest Castle in Albania and it is also the home place of the National Folk Festival. Castle tour and visit at the Museum of Arms inside the castle.
Old Bazaar is masterly paved in stones assembling to a black and white carpet.
Visit in the family house of Enver Hoxha, transferred into an Ethnographic Museum. City tour and visit at “Mad People Street” where Ismail Kadare, the most famous Albanian Writer was born.
Gjirokastra is also characterized from a local unique and very delicious cuisine where most of the most interesting dishes are “Qifqi”, “Pasha Qofte”, “Shapkat” “Oshaf” etc. Lunch break in one traditional Restaurant (lunch is not included in the price)
The history of the “Stone City” of Gjirokastra dates since the IV-th Century AD. Known as Argyrokastro (Silver Castle) it has been an important economic, politic and cultural city since the early Byzantine Era. Since 2005 the city is part of the UNESCO world Heritage known for its high preserved Ottoman Style Buildings and Architecture.
