WALKING TOUR OF TIRANA Pick up - Sulejman Pashë Bargjini Square, The Unknown Soldier, The Tomb of Kapllan Pasha, CORAL Travel & Tours Sulejman Pashë Bargjini was born in Bargjin but lived in Mullet, a village near Tirana. After having a distinguished career as a janissary, rising to the rank of general in the Ottoman Empire's wars, he returned to his ancestral lands with a Sultan’s decree to establish the city of Tirana. The Tomb of Kapllan Pasha is a monumental grave of the early 19th-century governor of Tirana, Kapllan Pasha Toptani. The tomb was constructed to mark the burial place of the Pasha, who died in 1819, and is a cultural heritage monument of the first category. ________________________________________ 1. Et'hem Bey Mosque: A mosque built at the end of the 18th century, known for its beautiful frescoes and detailed Ottoman architecture. It is one of the most important religious monuments in Tirana. 2. Clock Tower of Tirana: Located next to the Et'hem Bey Mosque, it was built in the 19th century. The clock tower is a symbol of the city and offers a panoramic view of the central square. 3. Bunk'Art 2 (museum): An underground museum housed in a bunker built during the communist regime, which presents the history of state security and persecution in Albania. 4. Tirana Castle: A historic complex dating back to the Byzantine period, with old walls that today serve as an open space for cafes and art galleries. 5. Tabak Bridge: An Ottoman bridge built in the 18th century over the Lana River, which once served as a crossing point for trade caravans. 6. New Mosque: Recently built, this imposing mosque is one of the largest in Albania and is located near Skanderbeg Square. 7. Archaeological Museum: The first museum in Albania, opened in 1948, which displays artifacts from various historical periods from prehistory to the Middle Ages. 12. Government Complex (Presidency, Prime Minister's Office, Parliament): The main government buildings of Albania, built in neoclassical style during the fascist period, are the administrative center of the country. 13. Postbllok Memorial: An installation built in memory of the victims of communism, which includes a bunker and a piece of the Berlin Wall. 14. Enver Hoxha's Villa (museum): The former residence of the communist dictator Enver Hoxha, which is now a museum that tells the story of his life and the dictatorship period. 15. Taiwan Center: A modern entertainment center with restaurants and bars, located in "Youth" Park, and one of the most popular places for walking and relaxation in Tirana. 16. House of Leaves (museum): A museum located in a former State Security investigation center, documenting the persecutions and activities of the secret service during the communist period. 17. Orthodox Church: The Resurrection of Christ Cathedral, built in 2012, is the largest Orthodox church in Tirana, with modern architecture and detailed frescoes. 18. National Historical Museum: The largest museum in Albania, offering a broad overview of Albanian history from antiquity to the contemporary period. 19. Skanderbeg Square: The main square of Tirana and a symbol of the city, with the statue of the national hero Skanderbeg at the center, surrounded by several of Albania's key institutions. 20. New Bazaar: A recently renovated traditional market where you can find local products, fruits, vegetables, and souvenirs, known for its lively atmosphere and vibrant colors.
