Lake city
With a population of 6,000 people, Puka is known for its fresh air and the sound of wind whispering through the trees. A fabulous, 400 hectares pine forest surrounds the city. The first place to explore is the lake (Puka has two lakes), with many places to relax among the high fir-tree, from where you can climb to the Hani Hill to explore the natural ski or meadows not far from the city. Puka serves as a base for alpinism (Puka has an alpinism team), in Mount Munella and Mount Terbun.
Migjen city
After 80 years, a statue of Milos Gjergj Nikolla (Migjeni) was erected, symbolic of the area’s cultural identity. It stands proud in the center of the city. Puka is connected to the poet of misery. There are two treasures to be discovered in this city; Migjeni’s Museum and the Ethnographic Museum. In the poet’s museum (also in the reconstruction plan), tourists can view displays of his life and his work. The beautiful traditions of highlanders in these areas continue to remain alive; the folklore spirit is transmitted to future generations.
Mount Terbun
Mount Terbun lies on the south of the city, at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. Mount Terbun is rich with pine-oak trees and many scenic views to those who love nature. During the climb, tourists can have a rest in many beautiful points. From the top of Mount Terbun you can see the whole town and its two lakes.
Itinerary Puke – Qelez – Komani Lake – The Cave of Kauri (Or Cave of Monks)
It can be reached by car, bike and boat. It is a delightful destination for those who want adventure tourism. The first stop is in the village of Qelez and the next step is in Komani Lake. The most beautiful point of this itinerary is the famous Cave of Kauri, located near the village of Levrushk, on Mount Kollata. The overlapping of the stones, as well as the plants that grows on the rock creates an amazing view. The karst cave, with stalactites and stalagmites, is 80 m long, 1 to 5 m wide and 3 to 8 m high. At the entrance you may find a sixteenth-century monastery. Very close to this cave there was a road which was used to connect Shkodra to Prizren.
The Rock of Fairies (Mrizi I Zanave)
The Rock of Fairies is located in the opposite direction from the village of Qerret in Puka, 680 m above sea level. A cave, a mill and the rock of fairies can be found there. Inside you may hear the characteristic sound of the water, which is known as the “Echo of Fairies”. This explains also the etymology of the name the ‘Mill of Fairies’ (Mulliri i Zanave).
